FAQs

Q:  Is this concentrated coffee fresh?

A:  Absolutely.   Ryan takes freshness seriously.

Our carefully selected green beans are small batch roasted right here at our plant.  During roasting, green coffee beans go through a series of complex chemical changes.  Carbohydrates become sugars, proteins are broken down and aromatic oils are released as the beans begin to crack or pop. These changes create the delicious coffee flavors that we prize.

We let our coffee beans relax for 24 hours, the time needed for the coffee beans to release excess carbon dioxide, a process known as degassing.

Next, the beans are precision ground and placed in sealed stainless steel tanks where warm triple-filtered water is added.  Then the coffee is cold brewed for 12 to 24 hours depending upon the type of beans that we are working with and the desired flavor profile.

The concentrated coffee then travels through our patented filtration process, capturing its flavor essences, before being packaged into sealed bottles.  Each bottle is nitrogen flushed 3 times, before filling, during filling and then after, eliminating oxygen, one of the chief enemies of freshness.  The complete process takes less than 72 hours.

The result is shelf-stable, concentrated coffee that needs no refrigeration, additives or preservatives to keep it tasting fresh.

Q:  Are these coffees sugar free?

A:  Yes, there is no sugar added to any of our coffees.

Q:  What do you do with the coffee grounds that are leftover after cold brewing?

A:  Ryan Coffee Company's commitment to sustainability is reflected in our handling of used coffee grounds, a natural result of the brewing process.  Our coffee grounds are picked up and shipped to Stockton, CA.  Then they are processed, along with a variety of out-of-code and stale bakery products, into animal feed, primarily for dairy cows.  This keeps our grounds out of the landfills and puts them to good use.
